Don Gato

We have known Don Gato for several years and through many moves. He is one of the three cats who made the move in the Great Bilbo's Pizza Exodus from Michigan to Colorado. For a year we lived in the same apartment building as Don Gato and his person, Kurt. Don Gato stayed with us all summer a few years ago while Kurt was in Alaska. Kurt and Don Gato later moved to Estes Park to live the good life in the mountains. And still later, Kurt moved to Alaska and left Don Gato with friends in Denver.

These are our newest photos of Don Gato, taken at his current home on our visit to see him last summer. It was the first time we had seen him in years. He doesn't seem to have changed a bit, even though his lifestyle has changed dramatically.

He is now a strictly indoor cat for the first time in his life, due to worries that he would otherwise continue to get injuries outdoors. His "tough guy" behavior was leading to too many visits to the vet, who advised he would not live long at the rate he was going. He lives in an apartment in the city and has a window with a special screen, built just for him, so he can safely sit in the window, smell everything, and talk to all of the passers-by. He is as handsome, gregarious, and charming as he ever was.
